In 1986, I had my
2nd job working as a bartender at one of Philly's hot night spot called
Second Story.
I've always been a warm body, good for cuddling and stuff. so I asked acquaintances to call me 'bear'. My manager was from New England area and he had a little accent. when we met I asked him to call me 'the bear' but for some reason it came out 'da bear' and so it stuck. I worked at 3 night clubs (Ripley's, Second Story and Morgan's) over a 14 year period and met a lot of people and numerous Philly Celebrities. My ride had come to end in 1998 when I had to stop bartending due to early symptoms of 'ALS'. working with people I needed my voice, and the symptoms had my voice slurring, so goodbye to henny, stoli, heiney and the rest of my serving buddies. it was a great ride, I'll always have my memories.
